X Andreu World International Design Contest

Assembled on 27th September, 2010, in Chiva (Valencia), the professional jury of the 10th Andreu World International Design Competition, composed of:

Banco urbano B+M
Ernesto García Sempere
Alicante (Spain)

 

The jury has granted the first mention to this urban bench, a "sculptural element" specially designed for exterior use. The B + M bench stands out for its multifunctional fluidity and for being a practical project that enables addition of pieces in exterior spaces.

The jury has highlighted the project's design, based on a single element and made possible through the folding of a single material. The piece's versatile character has merited the jury's recognition.

It has been selected by the jury by virtue of its emotional content, which brings to mind the chairs used during childhood, transporting the spectator back to the days of schoolroom chairs. It also stands out for the optimum resolution of its formal aspect, as well as being structurally sound. The members of the jury have also pointed out the seat's fluidity.

The jury placed particular importance on the functionality and emotional aspect of this table, which combines simplicity with the organic character transmitted by its legs. Similarly, the members of the jury highlighted subtle architectonic gesture upon which the piece’s construction is based.

Armchair Plissé
Francisco Ávila Añón
Quart de Poblet (Spain)

The jury has unanimously decided to grant the 1st prize to Francisco Ávila Añón, from Quart de Poblet, given that his project “Armchair Plissé” stands out for its experimental character, for being completely innovative and for its conceptual design. The jury’s attention was also called by the vision of this formally resolved piece, designed with surprising structural care.  Finally, the jury made mention of the piece’s sensuality, its organic character and its fluidity.
